In the last year, Mexico City produced 12,500 tons of urban solid waste daily, that is, 4,562,500 tons annually, according to figures from the Waste Atlas. Against this backdrop, Tetra Pak and Bio Pappel, companies with a responsible approach and committed to the circular economy, work together to establish more and better ways to use waste.
Thus, in order to continue recycling paper to Chile Mobile Number List transform it into new products, Bio Pappel has dedicated an exclusive recycling line for laminated cardboard packaging, with the collaboration and experience of Tetra Pak. Located at the Tizayuca plant, Hidalgo, this line will make it possible to take advantage of the 24 thousand tons of annual packaging obtained from a wide network of recycling centers throughout the entire Mexican Republic.
During 2018, more than 39 thousand tons of these packaging were recycled in our country, transforming them into paper products for daily use. With this alliance, 57 thousand tons of recycled packaging will be reached, which represents a 72% increase in the recycling rate of laminated cardboard packaging.
“What we are looking for is to increase awareness of recycling and remember that a used Tetra Pak container should be seen as a raw material for the manufacture of new paper and plastic products,” stressed Alfredo Román, Circular Economy expert at Tetra Pak México. , a company that in the last five years in Mexico, went from recycling from 32,000 million to 43,000 million containers by the end of 2019.
“The collaboration with Tetra Pak reaffirms Bio Pappel's commitment to sustainability and through our circular economy model called Bosque Urbano ® , we manufacture new paper and paper products by recycling disused paper and cardboard, converting them into raw materials. ; In this way we make paper without cutting trees and prevent this matter from reaching the confinements and emitting greenhouse gases. In 2018 we captured 5.8 million tons of CO 2 e, with actions like this we take care of the environment and promote greater citizen awareness around recycling,” commented Martín Rincón, Director of Sustainability and Development of Bio Pappel.
Circular economy is the concept in which the visions of both companies coincide in terms of the use of resources, the production of goods and recycling. "To make this possible, society plays an important role by properly managing its used containers and disposing of them following three simple steps: drain, compact by removing the corner tabs and deliver them separately to the waste collection systems of each entity. since this is the first and very important step in the recycling chain,” said Román.
It should be noted that Tetra Pak has initiatives such as Ecolana, a portal that helps citizens locate recycling centers where they can take their waste, so that it can be channeled directly to companies like Bio Pappel, which will use it as raw material for new products.
