Some people always see their failures in life, forgetting everything they have achieved. They think they owe their success to others, and blame themselves for their failures.
Lack of self-confidence also affects a person's relationships with the opposite sex. We witness with astonishment that some stunningly beautiful women find themselves 'too ugly to look at'. People who lack self-confidence usually stay away from the opposite sex out of fear of rejection. Even if they have a lover or are married, they cannot easily shake off the fear of not being appreciated and being abandoned, and they may fall into unnecessary jealousy.

Narcissism
Just as lack of self-confidence causes a tendency towards depression, excessive self-esteem (i.e. narcissism) also causes a tendency towards depression. Because people who love themselves very much and consider themselves superior to others always expect special treatment from those around them. Of course, it is not possible to receive special treatment from everyone all the time. This is why narcissistic people are very easily disappointed.
