With the arrival of the month of July, some one euro coins will be removed from the market forever. The BOE reveals which coins will disappear from circulation starting next month in Order ETD/647/2023, of June 14 (LAW 16263/2023) . It establishes the final destination of euro coins not suitable for circulation and counterfeit euro coins made available to the Treasury by the Bank of Spain. One euro coins are part of the most used cash: you put them in the supermarket cart, you take them down to get bread, you use them to buy water from vending machines or to pay for your mid-morning coffee... but some of the ones you have in your possession could be, even if you don't know it, false.
Law of March 12, on the Regulation of Metallic Currency, establishes in its eighth article that the Bank of Spain will remove from circulation coins that enter its boxes and do not pass the authentication process or are not considered suitable for circulation. This is the old 500 peseta bill with which you can earn more than 350 euros Thus, starting this month of July the Bank Iceland Phone Number List of Spain will receive euro coins not suitable for circulation and those considered false. It is up to the head of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation to dictate the precise provisions to regulate the form of said withdrawal, as well as the destination to be given to the metal resulting from demonetization. In other words, the new order published in the BOE allows the Central Bank to collect and destroy these one euro coins.
To date, the on the withdrawal from circulation and subsequent treatment of damaged coins, was used as regulatory support for demonetization operations and reuse or sale of the material resulting from unsuitable coins, but not established no removal and destruction procedures for counterfeit coins. For this reason, a significant volume of counterfeit euro coins has accumulated over time in the Bank of Spain , the destruction of which needs to be regulated. If you have any counterfeit euro coins in your possession—they may have been given to you with change, found on the ground, etc.—you should know that they have no real value. If you have any, it is time to remove them so that they do not cause inconvenience.
